Instant asset write-off 2025-26
Short answer
For 2025-26, a small business with aggregated turnover under $10 million using the simplified depreciation rules can deduct the business portion of each asset costing under $20,000 in the year it is first used or installed ready for use. New or second-hand assets qualify, and more than one asset is fine. In the ATO's example, a $40,000 ute with 40% business use gets no write-off because the total cost is over the limit.
